I was looking at getting a Spyder2express to calibrate my MacbookPro display but I have been told there are some issues with consistency aswell as banding.

So I wanted to see what you guys are using and if you have any reccomendations:D

I use the Spyder2express on my PC and it seems to do a decent job.

i use eye one display 2 on my laptop and my desktop. seems to kick ass, but i really don't know all that much. i don't ever put them side by side to compare. and i haven't been printing anything either. i pretty much just take its word for it.

This rates as a "huh?" I've calibrated MacBook Pro's and MacBooks with everything from a Huey to a ColorMunki. Not a single problem with any calibrator. All the calibrator does is create a new default profile, no different that if you used the "squinty" method. Go for it. Make sure you have the latest software.

don't know, i borrowed the spyder2pro from a colleague and the result was really terrible, the contrast and dark levels were superstrong. it was no problem to calibrate the TV though...happy i didnt buy it

LCD and I'm happy with it, although I've never compared with any other calibration software.

Hey forno. I used the spyder2 and didn't have any issues. The MAJOR thing to remember when calibrating an LCD, whether it's a laptop or desktop, is to ALWAYS use the provided sensor screen and NEVER use the suction cups. Otherwise, you will damage your screen beyond repair.

I have the Spyder3Elite now, so if want to buy my Spyder2 we can try to make arrangements if shipping it downunder doesn't make it cost you too much to make it worth it. Let me know.

I hope I am not too late into this discussion. Spyder products are great but If I were you I would stay away from the Express version. The software does not allow any customizing of the white point setting. It is set @ 6500K and this is good in 95% of all cases. The problem is when 6500K is a really big divergence from the native white point of your monitor and it makes things look really bad. With no other options you are left with a product that is useless to you. This happens with a lot of Dell monitors. I have 2 that need to be calibrated with a 'native' white point in order for them to look good and match print with any accuracy. Having said this I would look a little higher on the Spyder product ladder to get a product that allows customization of Gamma and white point. I use the Spyder 2 Suite that I picked up on Ebay for not much more than the Express version.
