Since getting into panoramas that resulted in me pixel peeping, I've been disappointed with the Sigma 18-200mm Chromatic aberration performance especially Red/Cyan fringe. I've used photoshop CS3 to fix it but its always not satisfactory.

Is there any other better software out there to fix this issue???

How can Chromatic Aberration be avoided/minimised??

Thanks....

You could try using a better quality piece of glass. The most 18-200 "utility" type of lens are really near the skids with CA performance. It's a characteristic of sloppy or overburdened design. What's more overburdened than a "super zoom", I ask you?

Do your research with the "CA" figures (http://photozone.de/canon-eos/320-sigma-af-18-200mm-f35-63-dc-lab-test-report--review?start=1) before buying your next lens ... and it will go a long way in avoiding this issue.

SIGMA 18-200 Canon 28-300
41519

Canon 28-300
41520

The solution in this case ... unfortunately, deeper pockets.

Good luck

Don't feel so bad - I'm noticing even my 24-105L F4 has CA issues. I think generally speaking CA is most noticeable as a purple fringing on transitions between light and dark borders in an image. I don't sweat it much since you usually have to zoom in to see it. I haven't used CS3 but PhotoImpact (now owned by Corel) did a great job of removing it when I did try in the past. Maybe you should be more purple then red/cyan in CS3?

DonScap....CA has not been a problem for me till now as I was never a pixel peeper. I can live with it but was just wondering if there was a way to avoid it with my current set up though I'm already in the process of researching for a new lens....

Peter...I get no purple fringe with the lens....its only a lot of red/cyan. Anyway I think I have a Corel software lying around somewhere...will look through it....thanks...
