I'm getting a business card printed for myself in one sided B&W format to keep the cost down...the following is one of the ideas I've got for the card design...

I love it. simple and pleasing.
It looks great... What if your clients can't speak English though or are English language cards the business in-thing in the UAE?

It looks good though I would not use the word "shots" in "Product Shots", but that's just me.

Looks good to me: simple, atractive and pleasing.
Small changes:
- I would black out the text on the camera (Canon, model number etc)
- Remove the dashes before and after each line of "Events.... " The ones in-between the words are ok, but I don't like the leading/trailing ones.
- like SpecialK, I don't like the word 'shots'
I ordered some mini-cards from Moo.com, which came out great... But in the final revision of the cards that I ordered, I left off my email address!!! Doh!

I'd ditch the camera altogether. I think it's redundant. Plus it's a Rebel. Ick. :D
Once you get rid of the camera, you can center your name/logo and it'll look better.
I'd also align-right the contact info on the bottom right side so it's more balanced with the align-left address on the left.
JMHO.

Well I can write it in Arabic also but that would mean two sided cards....plus English is used more here than Arabic.

That's what I was aiming for.

"Products" only it is.....

I don't think the text is viewable when printed but I'll black it out anyway....The dashes might go completely...still need to decide on that....

Most people don't know the difference between a Xti and a 1Ds mark III so that's kinda irrelevant over here atleast...that's what I've noticed....
Without the camera it was looking a little to plain but I'm still playing around with the idea and might change it completely.....
The contact info on the right is aligned on to the right. It's just that I haven't put my phone number in it so makes it look centre aligned....
What do you people think of a portrait instead of a landscape oriented card...???

I know, I was just diggin' at you a little. Hence the :D

You wanna see plain? I'll show ya plain!
This is the front side of my card:

Of course I have a back for contact:
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a304/cdifoto/gear/bizcardsimpleback.gif
So yours will inherently have more on the front. I like simple though. It's clean. Plus I have no design skills whatsoever so it's a handy excuse.

Ah yeah that makes sense.
What do you people think of a portrait instead of a landscape oriented card...???
I think portrait oriented cards are difficult to design well.

That floors me. I would have thought English would have been in the minority.

I'm keeping it one sided that's why this look...though I might drop the p.o.box details and only keep the W-E-P thing there...though I'd prefer a P-E-W....more like a M-E-W :p
Something like this...

Also here's a link to my website...any C&C is welcome on that also

Some estimates/statistics over here state that in Dubai, there are only 10% locals...Though the number of Arabic speakers might be close to 20-25%. Dubai and also UAE as a whole has the local population as a minority. This is why UAE is one of the most diverse and open minded countries one might find. They have let people from all over the world to out number them and in some way unfortunately destroy the local culture but that's what globalisation is all about.

I used to keep my collected business cards in a business card file box. It was easy to find a particular card since most had the title at the top edge.
I'm now using a notebook format that has clear pages with pockets to insert multiple cards into.
Either of these methods don't lend itself to a portrait card format for ease of reading if stored like this.
I like your card design, it's straight forward, easy to read, and conveys all the information anyone would need.

Hmm....I might get it done two sided now cause I like your card style...two sided would open up lots of new designing opportunities for me...lets see how things work out...
you can also use W-E-T... :p :D

Yah I use the same card for my custom url cards too. I just move the logo up a bit and put the url/statement below that.

Damn. Wish I thought of W-E-T before I had 1,000 of these suckers printed. That's genius!

looks great but I would remove the dash before Events and the one before Weddings. Also remove the underline on the front of the card. Otherwise it looks really good.

I agree with removing the dashes, but I like the underline on the front. Just my 2 bits. And yes, IMHO the last one is definitely the best out of the bunch!

Thanks Bella...long time no see???
Maybe I should post a card to you as you seem to have some friends in the news papers here... ;)

I've been asked a few times for a card so I need one...big time. Swapping cards is a must...IMO....
Also helps with looking professional...especially when you're shooting with a 400D... ;)

All joking aside, thought I should ask permission. Would you mind if I used your design as an inspiration for my card? It won't be exactly the same of course, but I like the style of yours.

I'll give you a better offer....I'll let you use my idea (kinda copied from cdiphoto) if you let me also design a card for you...I'm jobless so I don't mind doing anything to let my creativity out...what say???

Not surprising - the place is growing like mad. Even Michael Jackson lives there now, doesn't he? Now that's diversity :D

no he does not...he's buddies with a Bahrain sheikh I think so he's stays there sometimes...the place is growing like made...you'll find 30% of the worlds construction cranes here....I wish I could have showed you all the number of cranes that where there when they were building the airport...

I'm sort of going in the direction of children's portraits. I'm a teacher so I've already got quite a few clients waiting for me to get my business set up. I think for this sort of thing I'm going to need a clever business name.
Can you just use my name for now and plug in the new name later? That might be an idea. Just make up a template for me and I can hold on to it. Maybe just try "Zmikers Photography" Cheers mate. You're a star;) Look forward to seeing what you come up with.
