SD200 and memory card reader

is it true that if you get a memory card reader, then there is no reason to download the software that comes with the camera?

Nope, unless you want the photo album browser and sorting software from Canon. If you have nothing else it's not bad. Not the best UI I've ever seen, I like the stuff I got from Olympus better.
