Well.....

Finally managed to get around to updating my very old 20D. Its not quite the 5D mkII i was hoping for, or 50D for that matter, but you get what you can afford, or need, and I couldn't justify spending any more. I'm not a pro, and I've got a wedding and a honeymoon to pay for, so this was a good compromise.

Very happy with it though :)

Well..........Why haven't you changed your sig yet? It still shows the 20D only. That would have been the first thing I did:p

Cool! I've had a little voice inside my head telling me to upgrade my 20D too!.... but he's also telling me to go for the 5D mkII.... and then I hear my wife's voice........

Really? I've been thinking about the 5D MKII as well. Luckily it would just be a girlfriend's voice. Maybe I should do it before I get married eh?

Would've loved the 5dmkII but i also love the 6.5fps on this.

Been playing around all day, and have to say, so far i love it.

Here's a strobist shot from this arvo.

Awesome shot Shoey, what kind of lighting were you using?

Thanks!!!

There is a 580exII in a white shoot through umbrella, pointing into shot at about 10 o'clock on the image. Then a SB-26 bounced off the wall to cam left.

580 @ 1/16 24mm
SB26 @ 1/32 24mm

Camera was 1/50s f/5.6 iso400 i think:confused:

niiiice. yea it's a great camera. i really got to put it to use this saturday. i should post up a few today if i get a chance. i think 10MP is just about right where i want it. 15MP-21MP would really just be overkill and fill up my hard drives too fast. that said, i would still give my left nut for a 5d mk II and rock that sRAW.

The more i use it the more i love it. Soooooooooo glad i got it. The focussing alone is worth its weight in gold compared to the 20D. The images are clean, its fast, comfortable to hold, nice to use.

I agree about the MP too. Compared 10mp to the 15mp from the 50D sample images, and they're not that big. Plus, like you siad, HD space and CF card space, is a little concern. I would still love the 5Dmkii but i would want to keep the 40D for sure!

I nearlly got the 50D, was so close, but at the end of the day it didn't seem like a twice as good camera considering the price is twice as much over here. Got the 40D brand new for £500, the cheapest i saw the 50D was £900, and to be honest thought some of the 40D samples were cleaner.

So happy:D:D

definitely autofocus is noticeable way faster and more accurate than my 30d. it was focusing on a black rug the day i got it. i'm talking hardly any contrast at all. things my 30d woulda never locked on to.
