Attended my nephews wedding (my cousins son who is 8 years older to me  )

They had a photographer but she seemed kinda useless....not what I expected atleast. Anyway dad told me to take some shots so here are a few....the last three were taken by my sister...

Pretty nice shots. Are you going to give any to the couple? Did you hand hold #4? 200mm 1/50, looks pretty good to me.

Nice shots faisal - you captured some nice moments
But... I'm really curious about the bride/groom on top of the cake: should I cringes at the reach of Western imperialism? ;-)

Thanks Peter.....
That is the first time I've seen a bride/groom on top of the cake in a Indian wedding reception...so I found it weird too but it was a nice object to shoot.... ;)
Maybe the family of the groom didn't mind it there as they are Indians settled in the UK.

I'm a total selective colouring guy.... :D
That cake was huge...but no one got a piece...it was weird.....after the couple cut it, the staff packed it up in boxes and took them away....

I love your selective coloring stuff too... however I've tried a number of times, but i'm simply unable to get results like yours:(

Would really appreciate if you could share your workflow / technique in PP:)

Rule before starting....always make a copy of the original on which you will work on...never work on the original.

Simple technique

- Open the file in Photoshop
- Make a duplicate layer
- Desaturate it
- Play around with it to meet you're requirement
- Add a layer mask > Reveal all
- Erase whatever you want in colour from the duplicate layer (make sure you erase it from the mask and not from the duplicate layer)
- Save in whatever format

Would like to see what your results were like.....or maybe you could send me an original image and I could show you a step by step procedure...anything to share the knowledge... :)

Tried this... but manually deleting all the stuff is very time consuming and difficult:(

Is there no other 'automated' way that would automatically desaturate all colors except the one selected?

There is always the - Eye dropper tool > Select > colour range and then play around with the fuziness bar.

I don't fine this convenient cause usually you still have to erase or add some parts of the image from the mask but this is sometimes good enough when the image is going to be resized to a small size where fine details does not matter. I personally prefer doing it manually as I get complete control over what I want desaturated and what I don't want. It's time consuming but I've gotten faster with it.

faisal ISO 800 !!! the flash didnt fired ?

I was trying to avoid using direct flash and I needed the back ground to be bright also and a Flash cannot lit a huge place and even if it does it would create harsh shadows (like the last shot).....that warranted a ISO 800 setting.
