Are there any point-and-shoot cameras with wireless remote?

I believe there are several. You set me on a hunt as I believe there are some among the Canon and Nikon models.

A quick hunt at B&H came up with an interesting list. Apparently there're wireless remotes for Pentax Optio, Canon Powershot and Olympus Stylus.

Still need HELP.

There's sooo many models in each line, and most don't come with remotes.
Do you know any specific models that have a remote?

I believe you have to buy the remote later. You have to check to see which models take remotes though. It's a hard task because it's a rare requirement of a compact. Most people use the self-timer.

My old Olympus Stylus 300 P&S came with a remote. :)

A quick search didn't show up another Canon wireless remote.

Actually, this thread had me hunting for the remote for my XT. I managed to source one from China for a third of the cost of the Canon one. If it works, fine. If not then it's not an expensive write-off. For the few times I'd actually use it, there's not much point in buying the genuine article (as long as the copy works). Some people, incidentally, report success with TV remotes.

I have a couple of the Chinese eBay remotes for my XSi :) Wireless remote ($4 shipped) and the shutter release remote ($6 shipped). Both works as advertised ;)

Thanks a lot SPIDER for the info. I searched all over the 'net for such a camera and came up empty. Amazon cust. svc. even told me there were no point-and-shoots offered with wireless remote. The Sony DSC-H50 looks like a great camera. I just ordered one on Amazon with case + 4Gig mem + 1Gigmem and free shipping for under $400. The only drawbacks looks like proprietary battery and memory - typical for anything SONY. It's a bit large, but it's hard to pack all these features into a tiny package.

I just spent $9 on the infra-red remote. I already have the cable release. I just figure the IR remote would be better for self-portraits. As such I wasn't prepared to spend upwards of $20 on it!

My ebay remote arrived. Piece of junk - doesn't work at all. Sure - the IR lights emit different signals when the buttons are pressed but it doesn't trigger my 30D or XT even though it's allegedly the Canon version.

Rhys, If it is an IR remote (as in Infrared and not radio), it will not work with the 30D, that functionality isn't in the 30D. It should work with your XT though. I've got an old Digital Rebel 300D that can use the IR remote, but usually if I go to use it I forget to setup the camera to recognize it. It's simply a matter of putting the camera in the "Timer" mode. Could this be why it's not working with your XT?

Looking forward to your self portraits....:)

Hope you enjoy your new Sony. For the case if you desperately need a smaller camera you could buy additional one from Samsung :) NV100HD, NV30, NV24HD and other models (I didn't check all of the camera range) have the wireless remote control as an optional accessory.
