Enough pixel-peeping, time for some shots!

Saturday morning started out very early - I arrived at Quabbin Reservoir at 6:30 - it was still dark and about 38 degrees.

For those of you not familiar with Quabbin, it is one of the largest man-made public water supplies in the US. Although located in Western Mass, much of Boston's water supply comes from this reservoir - it is huge to say the least. In the 1930's several towns were flooded to create the reservoir.

My favorite image from the day...
1. Daybreak...
5D, 70-200, 2 stop & 3 stop ND grad stacked....

Breakin' all the rules with this one....
2.
40D, 24-105, 30 sec exposure, 2 stop ND filter, CP filter, 2 stop & 3 stop ND grad (you had better focus and compose prior to adding the filters :D)...
The trees in the background look blurry due to the long exposure - it was windy as Hell...

This one is more or less a "snapshot"...
3.
40D, 24-105, CP....

Thanks.

Quick question guys - these photos (the first two anyways) are supposed to be a bit on the dark side, but do they look too dark (underexposed) to you?

They look fine on my home monitor (which is calibrated) but they look a little dark on my work monitor, which I always thought was strange as a calibrated monitor is usually darker than the default monitor settings.

Every monitor is different. Its same with mine. Home monitor shows diferent picture than at work...
But anyway great pictures...

On picture nr.2 i'd just try to work on back trees whitch are too colorful. Maybe less reds. But only on trees. They dont look natural.. But the front is great . Nice rocks and fogy water..

I'd yust like to ask witch polarization filter do you use ?

Thanks. I use the Kenko PRO 1, which is supposedly the same as the Hoya.

+1 for number 2 really like how the rocks and water turned out.

Thanks; I really want to do some more of these slow SS water shots, but they work much better on oceans than lakes. I guess that means I've got to take some road trips. ;)

The slow shutter speed water shots are also nice if you've got some streams or rivers nearby. I've had some decent luck with water running over the rocks. You might try that out.

They look great to me. The effect you get is awesome. Love the colours.
