Updated/New S1IS

Any ideas when Canon might announce a higher MP S1IS? I like the camera lot but am hoping for more MP. I leave the country next Wed. to travel in South America and would like to make a purchase before then. Any hope that they'll announce anything in the next few days?

Something that disturbed me - The new Canon A510 uses SD memory cards as versus CF cards on its predecessor, the A75.

Is the successor to the S1 IS also going to use SD, or will it stay with CF?

I sure hope it still uses CF, and AAA batteries, and adds AF assist.

PLEASE, Canon!!!

3-5 Mpixels would also be nice.

I'm really rooting for the S2 IS!!!!

I too was a real worrier about the switch from cf to sd. I had a S45 for a while and then received the sd200 and had to buy another card. I hated having to buy another card but with memory so cheap right now I was able to get a 512mb high speed card for under 30 bucks. Not bad at all. I agree, it's bad to have to spend money on new crap all of the time but if it means smaller cameras, I'm all game.

I'm thinking that b/c of the zoom lens on that S1IS there's really no reason to go to sd for now. The camera is going to be somewhat large no matter what. I guess we'll see.
