About how many shots can a well cared for Canon Powershot take during it's life? I'm up to 7,000 shots on my A610 and wondering how much longer it will last.

Don't really know. I don't think there's a "life span" for compact digicams like DSLRs do, because there isn't really any moving parts when you take a picture. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just taking a guess :D I have around 9,000 shots with my S3.

I think its about the same as the amount of wood a woodchuck could chuck.

7K is nothing really — I'd be guessing at something like 100,000 without any problems, but.....?
