View Full Version : Does the Canon G9 have trouble with dirt getting in the lens?

Hello, I'm looking to buy a new camera and have to admit that the G9 ticks a lot of boxes (i'd like to get into photography, but maybe not a DSLR yet).

I was all set to buy it and then a few scare stories have paused me.

Anyone know if this is a common problem? Anyone had any similar stories or know the volumes affected?

I'm thinking of taking it to Everest base camp and then on Safari so if this dirt issue is a problem would that be asking for trouble?

If it does look like a non starter can anyone suggest a similar model?

Any advice greatfully received.

I don't think this claim holds much weight. I've got several friends who backpack with their G9 and if anyone would see the problem they would. I'm sure it can happen, but it can happen on pretty much any camera with an extending lens.
