compact flash - image recovery

If I have accidentally deleted images from my memory card (without managing to have saved them on my computer - gah!), is there a way to recover them? I have been looking online at software for this purpose, but am hesitant to download in case of spyware attacks.

Does anyone know of a good program? Thanks!
