Just stuff the camera and buy an easy to use and reliable camera of a known brand. You can also give the dsc3000 to your young off-springs or relatives as an interesting toy :)

From my research, the brand is OK. The cameras just don't work. It apparently uses a memory card but the images don't seem to come out. I would suggest using a memory card and a card reader - maybe it'll work for you then. Otherwise I would suggest donating it to Goodwill, taking the tax deduction and buying something else or simply returning it for a refund.

They're reportedly a budget electronics manufacturer that has a decent reputation but it looks like their camera just doesn't work although it does work as a webcam.
