I purchased via ebay two bulb holders for my light stands. They won't take much heat but I figured with some florescent lamps they won't get much heat. Anyway, they arrived today. Today, browsing ebay I found some interesting bulbs - they have 60 white LEDs each and work off 110v/220v, producing the equivalent of a 50w halogen (if the seller is to be believed). I figured I'd give them a try. If they're not much good for small product photos then I can always put them in as closet lights or in places where my stepson leaves lamps on all the time (pretty much anywhere). If they produce good illumination then even though they cost double the cost of a florescent screw-in, the 100,000 hour life (11 years of continuous use) will work out cheaper than anything else - especially considering the florescents use 13w and these use 2w. I'll let you know what they're like when they arrive!
