How would I find out how large an SD card I can use in my Canon SD 850 digital camera.
My 2GB card works fine. How about a 4GB or 8GB card?

The 850 supports SDHC cards, so you could conceivably get as high capacity card as you want and it will work (I believe current max is 16GB)

Personally, I never use anything larger than a 2GB card — in case the unforeseeable happens, and I end up with a corrupted card with 800 unrecoverable image files on it!

Rather than use an 8GB I'd therefore use 4x2GB, and I'd certainly never use a 16GB card.

The 40MB/45MB/sec 8GB Kingston Ultimate 266X sells for around $175, compared to 4x "ordinary" 2GB Sandisks for around $48. I know which I prefer!

Cheers :)

Wow, SD cards are expensive in Australia...

Here are the prices in Canada:
- 2GB 40x (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=24083&vpn=CT2GBSD&manufacture=CRUCIAL%20TECHNOLOGY&promoid=1066)
- 2GB 133x (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=17712&vpn=PEF2G133SD&manufacture=Patriot&promoid=1066)
- 4GB Class 6 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=25056&vpn=PSF4GSDHC6&manufacture=Patriot&promoid=1066)
- 8GB Class 6 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=24236&vpn=PSF8GSDHC6&manufacture=Patriot&promoid=1066)
- 16GB Class 6 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26213&vpn=PSF16GSDHC6&manufacture=Patriot&promoid=1066)

I'm guessing it's even slightly cheaper in the states.

I do like the idea of having multiple cards, but sometimes you don't wanna carry all of them with you. And if you take a lot of videos, you will need a larger SD card.
