Good morning all,

I searched the forums and google and found nothing on this topic, so here I go. :)

I have a Canon SD800IS that I bought back in December of 2007. It has worked flawlessly and I love it. Yesterday I dropped it, but only about a foot onto a linoleum floor. I checked it and it worked fine. This morning I went for a walk, occasionally stopping to turn the camera on and take a picture. I took maybe 20 or 30 pics, then stopped to take another one. I turned the camera on, the LCD screen flickered for a second, I could see the Canon logo and then the normal screen, and then it went really, really dark, sometimes all the way off. I tried taking the battery out and letting it sit for a while, then I get the same behavior. If I try repeatedly I never even get the flicker, it just stays dark every time I turn it on. Everything else about the camera works fine.

Any ideas?

Any help would be much appreciated.

It sounds like you knocked the connection cable loose to the LCD. Should be a relatively simple fix, but I'm not sure I'd be doing it at home (especially with a compact camera)

Hmmm...whatever was wrong seems to have reversed it's self. Thanks for the suggestion, jekostas. I hope it stays fixed, because I know these things aren't cheap to repair.
