EF 800mm f/5.6 L IS USM.

I got one - here it is next to it's brethren. Gonna try it out on AFL (Australian football) this weekend.

I normally use a 600/4 IS - I'm hoping for fine weather 'cause I've never shot at f/5.6 before...

With hoods attached. The 800/5.6 IS ships with the same hood as the 400/2.8 IS. I thought it would have been longer to match the FL.

Oh my... that is serious.

I'd like to get a similar shot of all (both) my lens standing up beside each other... but what would I take the pic with?

Don't hurt anyone with that thing! Got to be careful just turning around! A small child could wind up inside of it! :D

Don't forget to boost the contrast and saturation up a bit in the camera.

Lots of air/moisture/pollution between that lens and the players. You might lose a bit of "pop" with such a long focal length.

Anyone know what the minimum focusing distance is on this thing?

Something like 4 or 5 meters?

Six meters.
That's not too bad. I thought it'd be somewhere in the 1mi/1.6km range. :D

What I want to know is how you had the courage to balance all that money on end in the first shot.
