I have had mine for almost three months and think it's the best DSLR for the money...bar none. I do regret that Pentax did not keep the 3200 and 6400 ISO settings from the K100D as results were not bad and less noisy that other cameras with those settings but adding 100 ISO was nice.

is it that good? I've been thinking about buying it... it seems like the best for the money from what I've seen.

I think there are a couple people around here with the K200D. I think ISO 3200 on the K100D is something to avoid. I'd much rather have ISO 100.

Yep, it's that good and now Pentax gives a $100 rebate which I was not able to get since I boght the camera when it first came out. But paying only $631 for it was a great deal at Amazon.com Sure beats the bridgecams I've bought in the past. cameralabs.com has a great video review of it on their site.

Hi Barry. I too have upgraded to the K200D, myself from the Fuji S9600 and have no regrets. From the limited time I have had to use it due to work commitments. I love it. The pictures are so much clearer. I have the Pentax 18 - 55 zoom that came with it and have managed to pick up a brand new Sigma 70 - 300 APO lens for $165 on Ebay. Just bought 2 ME Supers with 50mm F1.7 lens and a few other assd Macro, and zoom lens and bits and pieces for Pentax from a guy at work for $100 so I am gradually picking up all that I need. Not worried about the cameras, just wanted the lenses. One is a 120 - 600mm zoom Koboron lens. Not sure what it is like but I will have fun trying it out on the wild birds in the back yard.
Cheers
Tony

There is an under-used Pentax photo thread in the galleries that could use some posts.

Hi Barry-
It has been awhile (back in the Fuji S-8000 days) since we last worked together. However, with the K200 soon to be no longer available, I found a great price on a K-200 body and went for it. In fact, the camera arrived late this afternoon (12/03) just about 10 minutes ago.
So quick as a bunny, I grabbed a Sigma 18-125mm lens and mounted it on the new body. Here is the first photo from the new K200 camera body.
Believe me, Barry, I am no Pentax expert, but I have owned the DL and the K100, so I know the basics and I have not even opened the documentation on the camera body yet. I am a Digital Camera Instructor, so I can fall back a bit on my years of experience. Thus far the K200 looks great!

Hey Sarah,
Been awhile since I visited this site, maybe why I never got your previous post e-mailed to me and that's why I'm late responding. I just recently acquired the Pentax DA 50mm f 1.4 lens, I like shooting a lot in low light with low ISOs and this could be the ticket I need for great Christmas shots at night. It's also like a blast from the past when I had the manual 50mm f1,4 lens on my old Spotmatic F back in my film days. I've been buying up cheap old Fuji digital cameras off Ebay. Just got the 8 year old Fuji 4900 with it's 2,4 MP sensor and 6x zoom, not a shabby camera for $50.00 with three 128mb Smartmedia cards, wide angle lens and cool case included also. I also have a 2000 model Olympus C-2100 with it's 10x zoom. Both cameras were one of the first to implement a EVF, something very commonplace in every bridge cam nowadays. I just love reading about the history of digital cameras and how weird to think that some paid over $30,000 for a 6mp Kodak DSLR only 13 years ago. LOL
Have a great holiday Sarah and family

My Gosh, Barry, does time ever fly!
I will try just one more time. Since our Fuji S-8000 days, I have moved on to the Pentax KM 2000 camera and I am very pleased with it. I am using the 18-55mm kit lens and the Pentax 50-200mm tele lens.

Sarah!!!,
Sorry about not staying in touch but I forgot to resume e-mail notifications after the holidays and didn't know you had written, Are you a member of the Pentax forum? www.pentaxforums.com that's where I usually hang out now. Before I bought the K200d, I had planned on getting a Fuji S100fs but the reviews and users complained too much about CA and overall quality of the camera. I'm now interested in the new Pentax K-7 about to come out. It'll remind a lot of the Fuji 8000 as it has movie mode in HD and lens changing ability of my current Pentax. I love my Sigma 70-300 and Pentax prime 50mm f 1.4 (love low light shots) The best way to reach me is through private e-mail barryndallas@earthlink.net
