Hello,

I recently purchased a Canon SD200, and I have noticed some things that I'm not sure if they are normal or not. It's kind of hard to explain, but I'll try. When looking at light and looking at the LCD it looks like light is being brought down. When I put an object in front of the lens, the "brought down" light appears over the object. I don't see the "brought down" light through the optical viewfinder. I know that seems kind of hard to understand, because I'm not an expert, but I took some screenshots of the LCD so you guys can see it for yourselves, and let me know what you think.

The first ones are the light being brought down, and I put my finger in front of the lens to show that the "brought down" light goes over my finger. The ones pointed at my computer monitor show that it does it with other lights too. You can see the scan lines of the monitor go over my finger. The last ones are of some blinds; because it also seemed like the LCD was displaying very high moire effect that is NOT visible through the optical viewfinder.

I know you guys know your cameras, so I would appreciate help.

Thank You,
Cristofer Cruz ;)

Hi Cristofer

I get this too with my Canon SD300 and had this before with my Canon S400. I would find that when I took the photo the "brought down" light as you described would disappear, so I never really got too concerned about it. It would only occur when there was a very bright light in part of the view.

So although I'm no camera expert, I'd say it's not a fault specifically with your camera but is just the LCD having trouble coping with difficult light conditions.

Hope that helps,

Cam

LOL when I read this post I took my SD200 and pointed it at my light and noticed the same thing... so I guess its just how the camera is.. But when you take a picture the "brought down" light is not there.. I guess its just how the LCD is.
