New Release of Canon Lenses

How often does canon release new lenses? Since I have been actively watching the market for last year Canon has released about 4 new bodies (XS, XSi, 40D, Ids) but few new lenses. How often does canon put out new lenses? Maybe i just miss them because they are out of my price range or get less attention, but it seems few and far between.

Cameras have often changed with new models coming out. It is very rare for lenses to change.

The latest trend is toward updating lenses by putting stabilisation into them. Canon just released a stabilised and improved (I hear) version of the 18-55 and a stabilised 55-250.

As far as professional lenses, nothing much has changed bar IS versions coming out in about 10 years. There's no need. A 70-200 F4 is just as good as a 70-200 F4 IS - it's just the IS that might interest some.

I think Canon just shipped a 200 f2.0 and a 16-35 f2.8 too. They are out of my price range....

It has 1:1 macro as well, right? I also believe it's the world's first 15x tilt/shift lens...

The EF-S 17-55 2.8IS is relatively new, but luckily lenses are the things we can continue to keep for years and not really get phased out :)
