I don't know if it will be a "photo a day" like some of the other threads but, post up some pics FROM H50s ONLY PLEASE!.

I'll start with a submission from my trip last weekend to spend the night on the USS Lexington with my son and our Scout troop.

Like you, I am also a Sony H-50 owner. Although I just got the H-50, I like it a lot. Your photo looks great. You and the Scout Troop probably had a great time. As a retired Naval Aviator, I also did my share of carrier landings when I did COD(carrier onboard delivery) flights. My photo is more or less a snapshot taken when I was testing the H-50 macro or close-up capabilities.

I was not too proud of my first sample photo, so I thought I would add a photo taken from the back deck of our home looking down at the Pacific Ocean shoreline taken this afternoon.

Nice to have another active H50 owner on the board. Thanks for your service to our country. I now have > 400 shots under my belt - here is a shot of one of the anchor crank wheels of the USS Lexington - probably about 3 feet in diameter!

I really like the picture quality of the H50. In my opinion, it's the class of the ultrazooms.

Thanks Andy. Here is an example of the "ultra zoom" and Sony's Super Steady software in action. I took my family to the White Sox @ Royals game while on vacation Sunday August 3. That is the game where the benches cleared and my favorite Manager got tossed. I was sitting pretty high up behind home plate and got this shot of him pleading his case:

While in Independence Missouri - took the family to the Harry S. Truman Library & Museum.

http://www.trumanlibrary.org/

Great history lesson for the younger folks (as well as us 70s grads who have been out of school for a while ;)). As President of the United States you have to make some tough decisions and, as a result of those tough decisions you sometimes get some heartbreaking mail. This was found in Harry Truman's desk drawer after his death:

Also while on vacation we went through Bartlesville, OK. This is where Frank Phillips made his home (co-founder of Phillips 66). He owned a 3,600 acre ranch/wild refuge called Woolaroc ~ 15 miles west of Bartlesville. You can drive through the wildlife refuge and also tour the museum (which is top notch and highly recommended for Indian/Old West buffs). I really liked the colors of this pic taken within the museum:

ooverdrive,

Regarding low light shots - the pics hosted in posts 6, 7 and 10 were low light conditions (flash was not allowed). I am no expert but, I think the H50 performs pretty well under low light conditions. I will go back and post the EXIF information so you can see the ISO info.

Thanks on the truck - I really love it.

Sweet pictures! I'm not sure if you can do this, but on your Moon shot, the surface is washed out. You should either raise the aperture to like f/8 or f/10 and shoot at that same exposure. Then you'll be able to see the surface of the moon! Good luck!

I need a little input. I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50 and we all know they take great shots during the day but I need some advice on how to take "crisp" action shots at night.

I use the iso setting most of the time but it comes out grainy looking.

Example:

http://www.adairband.com/new/images/stories/girlstoss.jpg

Is there any way I can get them to look as crisp as they do during the day?

thanks for any input

re.ac.tor

drlmel,

I have not shot very many (if any) action shots at night (yet). The only thing I can suggest is selecting the "action" mode (via the thumbwheel on top of the camera) and see if that helps.

Let us know and good luck!

Experts please comment on the flaws (I feel there are lots) .....

This is Kangchenjunga , the 3rd highest mountain in the world (after Mount Everest and K2) located at the border of India & Nepal. I missed the sunrise, which is one of the most beautiful scene of this planet... the mountain changes color from bluish dark to pink to red to orange to yellow and ultimately white. I took this picture when it was changing from orange to yellow. Please let me know your views. :)

I must admit that I am not blown away at all by your photos. I too am an H-50 camera owner and a Panasonic FZ-28 owner. Frankly I believe that the FZ-28 might be the better camera. Here is a low light sample from the H-50 and I wish that it was a bit sharper.

Here's a couple of mine. Still playing with and learning how all the setting work and what effect they have on the images. This is the first decent quality camera I have owned. Brought the H50 as it is still compact enough for me to carry on my motorbike. So far I love it and it will only get better when I learn more about how to get the most out of it.
