Hi. I have an older model Canon, a Canon Powershot A75 that I bought a few years ago, and am hoping to get more mileage out of it.

I am able to view all photos on the memory card that I took up until a couple days ago. Then suddenly, I took a photo, and went to view it, only to find a bunch of thick, dark pink lines. Now every photo that I take appears in the viewfinder as pink lines. Odd though that I am still able to view the earlier photos on my camera that I took last week...

Is there any way to revive the camera? or do I now have to buy a new one...

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Marie

Hello Marie. Sorry to hear about your trouble.

The first thing that comes to mind is that the problem might be with your memory card and not your camera. Do you have another memory card to try out in your A75 to see if the problem happens again?

i think it's the camera's CCD or image sensor
they just fail without warning
Canon covers them under warranty, so take it to them for a fix up

Canon has acknowledged that the Sony supplied CCD image sensor on that camera (and some others) is faulty and issued a recall. You are entitled to have it repaired (or replaced) for free, regardless of warranty status.

Hi. Just wanted to say I gave Canon Canada (1-800-OK-CANON) a call this a.m. and they said, yes, it sounds like a problem with the CCD, and to send it to them and they will repair it free of charge (regardless of how long I've had it, or warranty status). No receipt was even required.

Thanks again for that info.!
