When there is a rebate going on, you can expect to see used ones go for around $1300 - $1400 USD.
During no rebate times, used will go for around $1400 - $1500.
For new, whether its rebate time or not you will be in range of $1550 - $1800 depending on where you look...and how reputable of a dealer you want to use.
I hope to be picking one up shortly from a rental company that I know takes top notch care of his goods. The lenses stay in circulation for 1 year then are replaced. I'm looking at about $1350 USD for a lens I know has been well taken care of.
Thanks for the prices. Looks like it makes sense to get a new one since the price drop on used ones is minimal.
Have you looked for them in Berlin?
Otherwise I'd say B&H or Adorama but then you have to think about import duty and theft in transit.
