No tripod - was too lazy to carry it with me (now I regreat it)
I wish I had a 70-200 f2.8 L IS for these beautiful landscapes.
Nevertheless, my 17-55 did a great job and I dont regret a penny spent on it :

And I played around with 3 RAW'S -2/0/+2 in Photomatix (full size looks awesome) :

I wish I had more technique and more of an "art eye" for these awesome landscapes. Im still learing...gotta go back there in a year or 2 to take some pro-looking shots.
BTW...We drove to "Grossglockner" which is almost 4000 meters above sea level. A true test of a car brakes and engine with 18% inclines & declines...sick !

Seems like you've got a good eye to me; great series. The last one simply rocks - great colors, composition, and nice exposure (HDR). I'd consider framing that one.

I was in the Alps 3 years ago before I got into dSLR's - I really want to go back now!! ;)

Those are all very good, but the last one is extraordinary.

My next favorites is the 2nd one with people by the lake.

I like the one with the people by the lake too. I'll probably "borrow" that pose!

Nice shots koti. I was there in 1987 (before I knew what a camera was :o), great country.

Number 3 was my favorite. I like the winding road.

I was in Salzburg this past December... got a nice view of the edge of the Alps from the top of the fortress. Your view looks much nicer, though.

Thanks for all the warm words everyone, its needed and it definately makes me wanna take better shots :)
I have more RAW's taken in -2/0/+2 EV's. They are not sharp enough since I havent had a tripod (huge mistake) but as soon as I will find time to finalize them into acceptable HDR's I will post them in this thread.

Im not sure if its apropriate to link to this but here it goes...
Heres my gallery with some more shots from that trip :

When I was switching from Panasonic FZ20 and bought my new Canon gear just 3 months ago I thought...why would anyone want to use a full frame sensor (5d / D300) , APS-C is enough for every possible use for me.
Boy was I wrong big time...for these incredible mountain scenes with so much detail one should use nothing less then a 5d + 70-200 f2.8 L IS or full frame Nikon with some high-end VR zoom lens. Is this a begining of me selling my house & car and getting a medium format Hasselblad ?
