These shots were for a powerpoint as my final for a photo class I was taking in school this past year.
These were shot with my XTi (400D) and 50mm 1.8

Comments and criticism welcome!

Well, the apple looks a little out of its element, so there is a dichotomy that needs some explaining.

Technically, perhaps 'selective color' might help "contrast" the subject a bit better ... in other words, just a suggestion mind you, desaturate everything but the "subject."

Also, bruised and damaged fruit is not all that appealing. You might want to touch that up.

Thank you for the advice.

These are actually just out of the camera because there wasn't much time for the final and I wanted to show them how they appeared in the powerpoint.

Hence the lack of some needed editing.

What was the nature of the assignment, other that apples? I remeber doing a project in one of my old photo classes with potatoes where the point was to express the different types of lighting.

I like the apple in the tree one, the selective color works, but even without it. I looks kind of playful.

edit: you know what might look really cool, not that I've tried it (away from my photoshop pc), but do the selective coloring of the apple, but for the b&w background, apply the infared b&w effect. could look neat. But.. I could be wrong too. :-p

An apple thread sounds good to me!

Here's an old one I did soon after getting my XTi
