Nice shots of an interestingly wacky event.

Rhys, thanks, this was my first experience today shooting some live and action rather than static objects.

yes, when we get together crazy stuff happens eh? haha you did a great job of capturing this event. and yes, we are very colorful people, it's nice that you can see past the orientation and notice the people themselves, thats what those events are about.

Some very good shots, there!

How many people turned out for the parade, do you know? I used to love to watch the one here in San Francisco, it was lots of fun (even for straight folks like me), but by the height of the AIDS epidemic it became really sad--more a funeral procession/memorial than a pride celebration. This year, however, with the recent California Supreme Court ruling that same-sex marriage is constitutional, this year's parade was a HUGE party and celebration--over 1.4 million people!

Yeah Peter, this was lively colorful and joyfull show. :-)

Adam, I do not know how many, but then Vienna is a small city. As concerns AIDS have you read or watched a Movie called “And the bank played on”? Simply superb!

Maverick, for me this is clear so no need to notice anything. I actually despise people who express phobias and I believe every human must be given a proper right to live and marry the way he or she chooses (except for criminal conduct). So I wished them all good in their quest for the rights.

nice set of colours gintaras. where are all the babes though ???? :p

a word of advice. change over to your P&S to keep you shutter count down on the xti mate, you'll get better resale value later in the year when you switch to the darkside. that goes for all of you. time is short...photokina is coming...as is the d90, d700, d3x etc etc etc

juts lookin out for ya's. :p

Rooz, you damn sh@t up please!!! :p honestly i could not care less for shutter count as resale value has already dropped to 300-350 euros only and in a few months will be even less. i also want see if Canon pulls trigger on 6D and what price. however Nikon does much better job for the time being which makes me think.

I actually haven't seen the movie, but I read the book--a very good read if you want to get angry and sad!

Great photos of a vibrant procession. Thanks for sharing them.

On a somewhat related note, I used to think that the secondary market for combat boots would belong to people out in the woods shooting bambi. Wow, was I off. ;)

thanks,

I remember reading first about aids back in 1983 from a US magazine called Omni, where it was called "the gay plague". SInce then it has been discovered to have killed people back as far as the 1950s.
