Hey, I've recently purchased a Canon PowerShot SD200, and when I'm in manual mode, and press the shutter down halfway I get the camera shake icon, and the orange light flashes.. even if the camera is set on the tripod I get the same problem.. Also I've tried to use the remote capture mode but it doesn't work.. when i plug the camera in. the camera window appears but when I go to the Remote capture option the button is not avaliable.
Does anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks for your help.

Can you check to see if you have the flash turned off? That might cause the problem.

Yes it happens whenever I have the flash turned off.. but even when I'm outside in daylight and the flash is turned off I get the same thing.

My Ixus 500 (S500) also behaves in the same manner sometimes but I just ignore that camera shake icon since my hands are not shaking anyway :D . Don't worry, as long as your hands are truely not shaking, your pictures will come out fine.
