Has anyone had problems with the Lens not retacting all the way in. I've only had the camera 2 months, I am going to return it, and wonder if I should buy the same model. I think what happen is it was in my pant pocket and unaware to me the on button must have came on an while walking maybe he lens got bent while it was extenting out. I tried to take a pictures and it had only 1 focus point (unable to use zoom). Since I was out of the country, I took pictures with out zoom. On my last day(I took over 200 clear pic) I noticed a dark shadow in the top right and bottom left corner, these pictures are blurry.
Any suggestions? it's still under warrenty, I am just not sure if this is a weakness in this model or if it will happen again. This is my 1st digital Cannon, I've had a digital Sony for the last 5 years.

I'm not sure this will be covered under warranty, as the problem was operator error (though clearly unintended). Where did you buy it and do you know if they will take a return?

Based on what you said this problem would have occurred on any camera with an extending lens. There are models that have an enclosed lens that doesn't extend. While there are tradeoffs, you might consider one of them.

I bought the Cannon at Costco, they have a 3 month return policy.

My Sony Cyber shot had the same kind of lens and I would care it in my pocket and never had it open on it's own.

I like the Cannon and would like to get another one but am hesitant wondering if it is too sensitive.

Thats why I am asking if others have had this type of problem or is this just a flukey occurance.

The other issue is the shadows in the corner, this didn't start happening until after I had taken hundres of pictures.

I appreaciate any comments.

The shadows in the corner have probably been there all along. It's a known design compromise with this lens.

I have had SD-series cameras for the past 5 years and I've never had one turn on by itself, but I don't put them in a pocket.
