Does anyone know when the E1050 camera will go on sale? It sounds great from the description.

Far be it from me to put a damper on things for you, but GE digital cameras released thus far have received — shall we politely say — mediocre report cards from all review sites!

For the money, there's far better cameras available right now (for whatever price the GE1050 ends up selling for).

GE have yet to produce a winner: Whether the 1050 takes pole position is obviously an unknown at this pre-release stage, but so far their cameras, whilst looking good on paper, have all been duds (in my humble opinion).

All the features they enthuse about on their web site have been industry "standard" for many model years now — although GE makes 'em sound like they were all developed yesterday in their own labs!

My advice?

In that market sector, go for Sony, Fuji, Casio or any of the other "big" brand names. GE make excellent fridges and washing machines..... if that's any sort of hint LOL.

I've handled some of their cameras at trade shows and they feel cheap and flimsy. In all fairness, I'll probably go to GE for my next jet engine.
