View Full Version : How would you improve our newsletter?

I'm trying to consider what to do with the DCRP Newsletter. Its content is quite weak (it's basically a summary of what's been posted on the site in the last month), and since I'm no longer linking to other camera reviews, it's about to get even shorter.

If you think I should keep it, how should I improve it? Or do you not find newsletters useful at all?

Thanks,

Rhys

As an experienced digital camera user, I can say I hardly ever look at it on the basis that I know what I want to look at. If I was looking to see what was new then I might be more interested. I think that's the point - you need to roundup what's happening in the digital camera world rather than just list the reviews you've written.

I agree with Rhys. Also any rumors or news would be interesting to look at, but I know this might cause you problems with the camera makers agreements.

It may be true that the "rumor mill" is running amok, but the manufacturers are playing this a little too tight, in my opinion. People like to have something to look forward to and timely delivery is important for the many's planning purposes. Time and again, new products are constantly delayed and timely notification/announcements of those delays would be in the best interest of the customer and ... the seller.

I see no advantage to hiding production issues, if we are looking at a 6 month+ problem. 4-weeks may be forgiveable, but 1/2 a year is some serious lost production.

I just ask the manufacturers to tell me why I am waiting for YOUR product! If the DCRP forums can provide such notifications, it sure would improve my interest.

Oh gosh, at 4300+ postings ... I am so disinterested ... I hardly ever contribute. I heard there's pizza at 5000. How about it, Rhys. Did you get your slice?

Sorry, Don. No pizza at 5000 posts. I did get a rather nice check from Prince Ombongabonga of Lagos though.

Dont read it-only because what's there I've generally read already,I tend to log in here to see what news there is most days even if only briefly.

So it is of limited value to me,to be honest.I guess from your perspective the question is who are you targeting it at and does the time and expense you spend on it justify the benefit?

I have decided that I will no longer publish the DCRP newsletter. Thanks to those of you who sent in feedback.
