Has anyone had any experience with an F-Adapter for the Coolpix cameras? Found one on eBay for the Nikon 8800 and very interested in hearing if anyone has had any experiences; pro or con, with attaching microscopes or spotting scopes to their camera.

Well, no one helped. So I went and ordered the f-adapter. Apparently it's only available in Europe right now, so I'm having it shipped here. Customs be damned! I'll try it out on a microscope, telescope and rifle scope. I'd hope someone would be interested in the results.

I'd be interested to hear how it works and see a picture.
Thanks

I don't know anything about the F-adapter, but I have used a threaded Leitz microscope eyepiece on a Nikon 990, 995, 5000 and 5400 with very good results. On the 990 and 995, it just threads directly onto the front of the camera. On the 5000 and 5400, you have to get an adapter before you can use it.

I have seen other threaded eyepieces similar to this one, but can't recall what brand they were. Here is a photo I just took with a 995.

The f-adapter (and I haven't gotten it yet) kinda screws on the lens with three screws that tighten down and hold the unit in place, then ANY optical lens (microscope, rifle scope, telescope) can be added to the end. My cost and shipping out of Europe is like $35.00. I can't wait for it to arrive. Already got plans to attach it to my rifle scope!

Kornhauser,
How are you? I see you ordered the f-adapter, I was wondering how it worked out. I was thinking of getting one myself. Thanks for any info you can give me.
