View Full Version : G6 Single AF issue at F2.0 7.2mm(Wide end)

Hi, I bought G6 about 2 months ago and was very happy with it untill recently I found there is an autofocus problem with SINGLE AF mode under Program mode: the subject (about 2m away from the camera, indoor) is out of focus when at wide end with F2.0 . Don't know if any of you guys ever had this situation before

But the focus will be OK under any of following conditions:
. Manual Focus + Fine Tune (First AF, changed to MF, Press "set" button)
. Focus Length > 10mm
. F2.2 or higher number
. Subject is closer(close up)
. Auto Shooting mode (with 9point AIAF) helps a bit
. Continuous AF (I usually use Single AF to save battery)
. Change to other shooting mode also helps (AV/TV/M)

I tested this situation tens of times, not hand-shaking problem (I use remote for this test), I'm not sure if this is defect, since there are ways to work around, but still I don't feel happy about this problem.

Check this page (http://members.rogers.com/yqi2686/test.html) for the picture comparison, where you can tell the big difference.

Thanks

Dear NewG6fan-

I also have a G-6 and have found the same to be true. I don't think it is a deal breaker, just use the digic chip or Tv and Av.

Thanks, Sarah. You're right, this is not a big deal!

Anyway, I feel better know :) . I was wondering my G6 may have some problems and need service for this, but if this is common then no need to worry, at least I can live with the workaround, continous AF mode might be the best way in my opinion in case of shooting at P-mode, though sacrifice some battery life.

Thanks again.
