I am new to the site and looking to jump in....Can some one suggest a good flash for my brand new S5? I need a nice detachable for Aquarium Shots......

(Nuthman)It's what you want. Don't be put off by the price...the S5 is designed to work with it via it's menus...

1 question, I like to set the flash on top of the tank and not shoe mount, is this possible with these flashes??

I have a Canon G9 but the external flash capabilities works the same as with the S5.
Anyway, I also did some aquarium shots. I am using a Canon 430EX (as what JTL also suggests for you) and OC-E3 Off Camera Shoe Cord. The price for this combination would probably discourage you but it is worth it. Especially if you plan to upgrade to a Canon dSLR later. Also, you can use this set-up in various other situations like macro photography, close-up portraits, etc. Of course, it all depends on your budget. Welcome to the group and good luck!
