Has anybody participated in this program? My S3 had a nervous breakdown over the weekend. Had it for about 15 months, no problems. Canon has a program where for $165 they will replace my S3 with a refurbished model and a 6 month warranty. Their cost to even look at my camera is $119, so I'm leaning towards that route. I'd much rather just use this as an excuse to upgrade to a dslr, but money is tight nowadays with fuel so high. And I really enjoyed the S3.

edit: correction. The typical labor bill is $119, not counting parts, if having it serviced.

I haven't heard of this program but it sounds like a good deal for both Canon and the customer. I know I'd take advantage of something like that.

That's a good deal if you want to stay with S3.
They should offer similar deals to good to refuse to upgrade to S5 or even Canon DSLR.

More like the "Help us deplete our inventory of spare parts program"...but, the deal is actually halfway decent...
