Hello,

I want to buy a camera and I am stuck between Panasonic TZ4 and Canon SX100. Can anyone please tell me which one is the better one?

The only issue i found with the Canon is that you cant zoom while recording videos. Does the Panasonic have the same issue?

I want a camera for when I travel abroad and also for taking pictures in the house. Is it worth going that extra mile and buying the Panasonic FZ18 or Canon E5.

Any help will be appreciated.

thanks

When it comes to compact cameras, I realy dislike canon. The need to stick with what they do best; SLR cameras. Their compacts all look like anorectic SLRs.

If you want a camera to put in your pocket and take to parties, get the TZ4, but if you want to do a bit of photography, get the FZ18. Both great cameras which I have used, but very different uses.

Not sure why you feel this way; the Canons are consistently at the top of most P&S camera reviews. I've had several Canons (and others) and they have performed extremely well.

But I'd consider the TZ5 over the TZ4 for the much better LCD and the red eye removal. Either camera (TZ5 or SX100) is a good choice. If zooming during video is important to you the TZ4/5 would be the obvious choice. If you are going for the bigger model the Canon S5 or the Panasonic FZ18 are also good choices. I think the image quality on the S5 is better, but you do get somewhat more zoom on the FZ18.
