External flash for Nikon D50

I am a complete beginner so please forgive my lack of technical knowledge but I have a Nikon D50 and have just purchased a budget flash unit - a Walimex CY-100MR and was told I would need a Nikon AS15 hot-shoe to get the two units working, the cables supplied with the flash unit don't fit the socket on the hot shoe and I have no idea what cable I need to buy to get this working - can anyone help me??
