I have a Sony A200 that I was plan to use some older Minolta lens.I have 2 Minolta lens but can't seem to get them to work on my Sony. Can anyone tell me which Minolta lens work on Sony and how do I tell what kind of mount my Minolta lens have. Here are the 2 lens I have now ( MD 50mm 1:1.7 Japan @49mm Minolta) (I don't think this is a Minolta but it came on a Minolta camera.
Coated Super Albinar Auto 1:2.8 F=2.8mm @52)
Any info on Minolta lens used on Sony cameras is welcome and helpful.
Thanks Jim

Minolta MD mount is a bayonet lens mount used on the last generation manual focus Minolta cameras. The mount incorporates meter-coupling and automatic diaphragm, and is backwards compatible with Minolta MC lenses. The MD lenses can be used in shutter priority mode with Minolta XD-7, Minolta XD-5, and Minolta X-700. You could get an MD to A-mount converter. They are out there and available (usually from someone on ebay)
Now, when it comes to the new SONY DSLRs ... they only directly use the A-mount or AF lenses.

There are many of these out there, also. You need to realize that that older zoom lenses are not going to shoot as sharp on a DSLR as they do on an 35mm-film SLR camera.
The "Primes" (fixed focal length lenses, on the other hand, will shoot very sharp and will deliver a good image. Lens like the Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7
AF 50mm f/1.4

Note the five gold contacts.
and the Minolta AF 28mm f/2.8 are not very expensive and should be pretty easy to buy.
I hope this helps :)

Frank ... I'm not that invasive with my optics. I have a repair facility very close and I let them repair and tune up my equipment. It's about $45 to $150 per repair, depending on how bad the damage or ... just a tune up.

I miss the city. But then again all I would get to shoot is buildings and pigeons. I was just looking for a quick fix.
Thanks
