"The A350 definitely lags behind other high resolution D-SLRs (namely the Canon 40D and Nikon D300) in terms of high ISO photo quality, in my opinion."

Is this really a fair statement? The 40D and the D300 are both not in the A350's class. The A350 is in the "beginner SRL" class, and the 40D and D300 are in the "intermediate/advanced user" class. The A350 should be compared to the D60 and the XSi. The D300 and 40D are comparable to the A700, not the A350.

I think the review should be changed to compare to cameras in the same class.

He does state "other high resolution D-SLRs". Meaning he is comparing it to other cameras with 10-14MP, but you're right they are not necessarily in the same league ;)

i'd be pretty surprised if the a350 could hang with the d60 and xsi for iso let alone the d300 and 40d. as VR says though, the reviewer is comparing to hi res cams given that the a350 is a 14mp dslr.

With some saying the XSi is on par or better than the 40d in IQ then it's understandable.

I'd be curious to know what pieces of glass they decided to shoot this comparison through. Standard 50mm f/1.4? Third party zoom? OMG ... the kit lens?

The way I figure it .... every subsequent sensor should be an IMPROVEMENT, not a decline. For 2008, the Canon XSi better have an improved one. At what point can you no longer distinguish them? I know ... FOVEON (http://www.foveon.com/), right?

Let's go ask SIGMA how much of an impact it has had. They are struggling to climb up into respectibility, in the DSLR market. On the DCRP, they have had all of 11 threads posted ... since 2006. That's rough.

I feel with SONY's 24.2 MP sensor announcement, next year's sensor releases should be awesome.
