I must say that is quite yummy

I'm not nitpicky about noise, as long as it looks good then I'm happy but here is a 100% crop :)

I recently got my 450D + twin IS lens kit and have been very pleased with its ISO performance and its performance in general, I've had no noticeable shot to shot delay, the start up is virtually non existent, playback is great, focusing times are very fast (generally, when its dark it can go a bit nuts)
and everything is very responsive

the menus are very consumer friendly although I have had to refer to my manual a few times to understand some things (AI Servo AF WTF!) and some things are kind of confusing (again...the manual saves the day), the image quality is very..well again consumer happy with very strong punchy vivid colours right out of the box (it makes it hard to edit in photoshop :( )

The sharpness is a tad soft, I have +2 the sharpness in the camera which is more satisfactory (and -1 saturation)

I have had some issues focusing in very low light, it usually doesn't focus and I have to use either the flash as a AF Lamp or manual focus, Why can't they use the Self timer lamp as a AF lamp?, its annoying and disruptive using the flash to focus in low-low light (I guess after 3 years of compact cameras, its something I'm not use to)

The build feels more sturdy than the 400D, the grip in my opinion is much more satisfactory

the actual button layout is mostly alright, the deticated ISO button is great but its not the greatest comfort pressing it because its squished between the two big buttons and is on an angle, so you have to wedge your finger between the two buttons and press on an angle and is disrupting if you're doing it while composing with the viewfinder
Other than that, every other button is well placed and spaced nicely from each other

the 3 inch screen is very nice, well lit and shows images nicely, the view finder is comfortable, large and I've had no hassles with it

In all I'm very satisfied with the 450D, Canon have understood what the market wants and has delivered (except flash AF!)

the only improvements I can think of is a less uncomfortable ISO button and low low light focusing

I don't use Live View but from the few moments that I've used it, its just like a compact camera and I couldn't tell a difference between Live mode and Quick mode despite seeing in another review that there is a difference.

Right on! 450D looks like a great camera.

About the focusing, keep in mind that the lens plays a MAJOR role in focusing speed and accuracy.

BTW, have you figured out that little star button?!? hehe. That gets em' every time.

LOL, changed your mind, huh?

everything that they put in it isn't worthy to me except the SD card part and the viewfinder.

and the redesigned body

XTi here I come ^_^

I've seen 100% crops comparisons at all ISO levels for the 400d and 450d and the 450d was just barely better. I thought that the DigicIII processor would be like night and day compared to the DigicII in my 400d.

The only thing I yearned for from the 450d is the spot metering, but I've learned to work around it well enough.

I can't comment on how well the redesigned body is since I haven't gotten my hands on it. And the larger LCD screen is just that - larger. It has exactly the same resolution as the 2.5" screen on the 450D.

It's still a great camera obviously, but not really a dramatic upgrade from the 400d.

Not bad. Thanks for the review.

However, the examples you posted are a bit underexposed (which tend to worsen noise) and the WB looks off to me. If there were corrected I bet they would look even better.

Thanks for the review. Regarding the sharpening you might not want to do that in camera. The general rule is that sharpening should be the very last thing done before print and some would even say web display. Sharpening before color correcting, cropping or resizing can (and often does) cause problems or inferior results with any of those manipulations vs. the same image with sharpening applied at the final step. This is not a cut and dry rule but I think that most would agree. Good luck with the new toy!!
