* What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible.

Up to $350.

* What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?

Ultra Slim!!!!!

How many megapixels will suffice for you?

As long as there are over 8 MP, i'll be ok ;)

* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify)

Standard optical zoom is good enough

* How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)

I'll just give a default answer of 9 here. Image quality is always important.

Do you care for manual controls?

Somewhat important, nothing too fancy.

* What will you generally use the camera for?

Camera will be used mainly for vacationing pictures, party pictures. Strictly recreational

* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not?

No

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?

Yes, there will be a mixture of indoor/outdoor photos

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?

Not so much sport/action photos. Mostly stand still photos

Are there particular models you already have in mind?

I was thinking about the Sony Dsc-T100 or the Dsc-T300, however I have read review that the T300 is not too impressive. In additiona, I read that the T-300 is not a very good travel camera due to a short battery life, however it looks so sexy!!! :( I was hoping to get some input on other good cameras that are slim like the Dsc line.

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)

Image stabilzation and BATTERY LIFE!

Thanks for your help guys!!

Most of the Canon SD-series are a little fat as ultracompacts go. But the SD770 is the same thickness as the Sony. Dunno about its battery life though.

Nice. Thanks for the quick ref Kelly.
I'm reading up on the SD770 SD790 cameras as we speak!

If you use the optical viewfinders of the Canon SD-series and turn off the LCD the battery life is much longer.

Get down to the store and play with both. Personally, I'm a whole lot more comfortable with the SD1100. But our i-pod generation might see this differently.
