Hello all.

As of late, I have been noticing that the pictures my aging Olympus C-750UZ has been taking have become more grainy and pixelated. The camera is pretty old, and has served me well throughout the years. Needless to say, it has taken its fair share of bumps and bruises. But, as a hardware reviewer tasked with taking precise and pristine pictures of hardware review samples, I need a camera that can do it without fail.

Now, I know nearly nothing about camera modes, f stops, apertures, etc. etc. I just want a camera that takes extremely good pictures, but yet something that I can grow into. I intend to take a photography class at some point, so advanced features would be nice. In any case, if you guys could reccomend something, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

1) What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible.

$300-$500

2) What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?

Not really concerned with the size of the camera

3) How many megapixels will suffice for you?

Doesn't matter

4) What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x)

Standard or Ultrazoom

5) How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)

Image quality is extremely important. I would say an 8 or 9 at least

6) Do you care for manual exposure modes (shutter priority, aperture priority, manual)?

I have no experience with these exposure modes so I can't say

7) What will you generally use the camera for?

Taking stills of computer hardware for a review site that I work for

8) Will you be making big prints of your photos or not?

Not likely

9)Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?

Both

10) Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?

Not likely, although it may be possible in the future

11) Are there particular brands you like or hate?

I like Canon, Olympus, and Nikon. I do not want a Sony

12) Are there particular models you already have in mind?

Nope

13) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)

I would like image stabilization and a hotshoe
