Hi all, I'm new here and I'm looking for a new digital camera since my Kodak EasyShare camera was stolen on friday. I'm so sad right now but I'm in the process of looking for the right camera for me. I didn't care for the EasyShare camera too much but it was a gift from my family.

Budget

* What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible.

MY BUDGET AT THE MOMENT IS REALISTICALLY 200.00

Size

* What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?

THE SIZE DOESN'T REALLY MATTER TO ME.

Features

How many megapixels will suffice for you?

I'M GOING TO PROBABLY AIM FOR 8.0 OR 7.1 MP

* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify)

10X-12X WAS WHAT I HAD BEFORE

* How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)

7

Do you care for manual controls?

YES I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE MANUAL CONTROLS

General Usage

* What will you generally use the camera for?
I USE THE CAMERA WHEN I'M AT BARS/CLUBS/ZOOS/SOCCER GAMES/HIKING/BEACH/MUSEUMS/PARADES/NIGHTTIME SPOTS.ETC.

* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not?

I DON'T BELIEVE I'LL MAKE BIG PRINTS WITH MY CAMERA

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?

YES I DO USE MY CAMERA ALOT FOR INDOORS AND LOW LIGHT

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?

YES CERTAINLY

Miscellaneous

Are there particular brands you like or hate?

IM NOT A BIG FAN OF KODAK, I TAKE A LIKING TO CANON OR NIKON

Are there particular models you already have in mind?

THE CANON POWERSHOT 1100, NIKON COOLPIX

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)

IMAGE STABILIZATION WOULD BE NICE SINCE I TEND TO GO TO PARADES ALOT AND SOCCER GAMES.

ANYBODY RECOMMEND ME A DIGITAL CAMERA FROM THIS INFORMATION I GAVE?

PLEASE POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A SEPARATE THREAD.

I Like Capslock Aswell

I'd say Canon SX100 IS

I double what was said by Turn...the Canon SX100 IS seems the best for your need...though I'm guessing it might cost a little more than $200 (depends on where you are)
there is also the Sony H10 though it looks kinda weird to me....

yeah I've been looking at that Canon SX100 IS and I'm starting to fall in love with it... you guys are really good at picking right cameras for people. :):)

My original camera, the one that was stolen by some pathetic poor soul was a Kodak EasyShare Z740.... not sure if anybody would be familiar with that model. It basically was a 5.0MP 10X zoom digital camera with manual settings with a 1.8 LCD screen. I was very comfortable with that camera but it wasnt' very compact and I hated the lens cap the most. But other than that, it fullfilled my needs..... but now its gone forever, and I'm hopefully going to upgrade to a slightly more compact higher quality camera

So I think the Canon SX 100IS really appeals to me and it seems like I can get it at a reasonable price.... and seems better than my previous camera.

Welcome to the club, my cameras were stolen a couple of months ago. The Canon SX100 checks all the boxes, expect an important one. It is a little big and bulky for the bar/club scene. So not the ideal choice as a "social" camera. There are compacts that fit this role a little better. Though do not check every one of those boxes, so see the note with each listing -

Canon PowerShot A720 IS (6X zoom, optical viewfinder)
Nikon Coolpix P60 (5X zoom, EVF)
Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ10 (5X zoom)
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 (no manual control, slightly over $200)

Ultracompact designs are even slimmer, easier to slip into a purse -
Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH (3X zoom, no manual control, optical viewfinder, slightly over $200)
Fuji FinePix F50fd (3X zoom, strong low light rep, slightly over $200)
Olympus Stylus 830 (5X zoom, no manual control, needs xD card)
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W130 (4X zoom, optical viewfinder, no manual control, slightly over $200)

Get to the store and handle a few of these,
