Hi,
can anybody help me? I cannot upload any file but .jpg on the SD of my Canon SD300 (actually, it's a IXY 50). Is it not possible at all? I hope it is...
Besides: is it possible (with WinXP) to see my Canon as a disk (as almost any other digital camera does) so that I can treat it as a USB storage device?
I really thank in advance anybody that will answer this.
Ciao,
Fabio

With a card reader you can put anything on an SD card, it's just an external disk to your computer. Your camera won't be able to read it, it only displays images in the format it writes them. You probably can't even take images off your camera, manipulate them, and write them back to the camera and still expect to view them. The header info will not be in the correct format.
Don't expect to put anything on your SD card that your camera will recognize unless it is a picture taken with your camera. Otherwise it's just a storage device.

Hi Dave,
thank you for your reply, but my previous camera (CASIO Exilim) was recognized by my PC as a "generic removable storage device" and therefore seen in Explorer as a new drive on which I could do any kind of operation (copying files, deleting, creating folders, ...). Also I know with other cameras you can do the same. This Canon is not recognized as drive, this is the difference. Do you know if there is a way to install a kind of generic drivers for removable device (as if I did not have the installation CD with dedicated drivers...
Thank you,
Fabio

I have an SD300 as well, and my old camera acted just like yours did, looking just like an external drive. I haven't explored pushing data to my SD300, I've just done a handful of downloads.
Either way, if you want to pursue this often I'd think that a card reader is the way to go.

Dave,
Is it a problem for you to send me the drivers you have used to install your Canon? It would be reeeeally appreciated!
Thanks,
Fabio
