On the way to work I passed this 3 mule team pulling a covered wagon. They were coming from somewhere in Missouri and traveling to parts unknown. I shot this in Central Illinois so they had already traveled a ways. Yet, the mules were clip-clopping right along.

Nice post cmaw63. Looks like the mules were checking out your Fuji S700 as well :)
I noticed the propane heat for the cool nights and plenty of onboard fuel for the animals.

Thanks Spookonthe8ball.

I swear when they passed by me the lighter colored mule rolled its eyes like it was saying "Oh please lady, haven't you ever seen a mule before?".

LOL, I can almost see from the photo he is the spunky one of the bunch.
My grandfather used to drive a mule team from Texas into Indian Territory, which is now Oklahoma. He did that when he was 16 years old. He ran a supply train before there were any bridge on the Red river. Family history says it went from Sherman , Texas to Marietta, Oklahoma. Whisky was illegal in those days in Oklahoma and he used to tell a story of helping the local Sheriff catch some bootlegers. Some barrels of whisky were set on a wooden loading dock and they were to arrest whoever claimed them. They sat in watch all day, but near sundown they went over to check and found the barrels empty.
Someone had used a brace and bit to drill through the elevated wooden loading dock and into each barrel. Somehow they had managed to drain off all the whisky from all the barrels. The perpetrators were never caught.
