Hello everyone!
This is my first thread on this website. I just upgraded my D50 to a D80 with 18-200VR lens. Let me tell you the upgrade is worth every penny. I am in LOVE with this lens and body.

On to the good stuff though...

My first photo shoot with the new camera and my first photo shoot of surfing ever. When the sun finally came out the pictures turned out really nice. Take a look and tell me what you think! C & C Welcome!

great looking photos! couple questions and comments though. Did these people know that they were being photographed by you? I think it would have really helped with the facial expressions (thinking out loud, not sure if it would make a difference.) I noticed in some of them the horizon was just a little off level. If you purposely did this, more of an angle would help. the slightly off horizon makes the photos look... snapshotish. this might just be me, but I think the colours could have been more saturated in some of the pics. all that being said... I am an amateur myself and have never shot surfers. take all advice with a grain of salt :)

my faves are 8, 10, 11 out of the group. It looks like you had fun and keep shooting!

Mate for mine you've done well with your gear. Not knocking your gear as it's good but in my opinion you've used it well. The 'surfing' is a very hard thing to catch with the white & movement. Exposure will always be a prob & washed out photos too. To me if you've got the definition & the still capture all can be fixed in processing, your shots to me have that.

Hey guys,
thanks for the words on the photos. To answer some questions: Yes they did know they were being photographed and I agree that with some good facial expressions they could be better. As for contrast, like i said in the beginning there is no post processing work done to these photos. I need some software badly but until then...

Other than that thanks for the compliments and im sure there will be a round 2.
