Which camera should I buy?

Q: Budget

I am looking for a camera that takes, sharp, crisp pictures, even when subject is moving. I have had so much trouble with blurred pictures

Q: What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?

I'd like one as small as possible, without omitting quality. I am open here.

Q: How many megapixels will suffice for you?

I'd like to be able to print 6 to 8 because I don't need more than an 8x10 photo, unless it makes better picture when cropped.

Q: What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify)

A nice zoom if it doesn't mess with quality of pictures.

Q:How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)

10

Q: Do you care for manual controls?

yes! I don't like not being able to find my controls fast.

Q: What will you generally use the camera for?

Taking pictures of my family and pets. Close-ups indoors and outdoors.

Q:Will you be making big prints of your photos or not?

8x10 max.

Q:Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?

Yes

Q:Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?

Yes

Q:Are there particular brands you like or hate?

I liked my Sony but the model I had had blurring issues. I returned it.

Q:Are there particular models you already have in mind?

Ones with good ratings, and have been tried out. Not an older model

Q: If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)

Image stabilization, zoom, manual controls, good lense, fast shots, multi shots to get best pose. Anything to help me get a good picture is good. Thanks in advance for all your help!

A lot of folks are happy with Sony, so it's hard to know what to recommend here. Cameras with easy controls, fairly fast lenses, and high ISOs include the Kodak EasyShare Z1085 IS and Nikon Coolpix S510. But what is most important is to use a store that makes returns easy. As this is something of a guessing game.

Check into the Canon A series: good price, great camera. There is a camera for everyone in the A series.
