I've had my 430EX for several months now, but I haven't used it with people as the subject. I spent some time with Lucy, the little girl my daughter is a nanny for. We were in a small room with white walls and a large window, in the early evening. I tried some bouncing off the ceiling, but I didn't like the shadows. These were bounced over my left shoulder at a slight upwards angle, or towards the window. All with the 100 mm macro.

Gosh Adam, need some validation? :D #2 is great. It's by far my favorite expression. For some reason when she's smiling she kind of reminds me of one of Scrooge McDucks nephews. Maybe I'm just crazy! So do Lucy's parents get awesome free pictures of their daughter?

Everyone needs validation, Lukas. Don't they? ;) (Please say I'm right!)
I just got off the phone with my daughter. Told her to get me Lucy's parents mailing address. The saw the shots online and loved them, so I'm gonna send them a CD with the full-rez versions and an offer for some free prints if they're interested (although I did see an Epson 2400 when I was over there!)

Yeah, you're right, but I still have to give you a hard time. :D Free prints too, huh? Looks like I'm going to need your daughter to watch my kids too then. That is, when I have them. Maybe in 10 or 20 years...actually, better make it 30.

My favorites are #2 and #7 (where she's dancing.)
I don't mind the hard time, Lukas, but on a serious note: sometimes the solitary nature of photography gets to me. My wife gets tired of "Hey! Come look at these!" I think we're very lucky to have this online community, where we can share our passion with like-minded folks, often on the other side of the world.
As to the free prints, well sure. I'm not gonna mat & frame 'em, and I can make 3 9 x 6 prints for under 10 bucks. Not bad for letting me experiment on their kid!

I agree Adam. It's nice to ask other people who know what they're doing what they think.

That's fine when you're a baby. When she grows up? Not so much... ;)
