hi guys,

is it possible to make ZoomBrowser to read CF cards? everytime i try it opens the download program...i insert the cf straight in the laptop so i'd really like to use ZoomBrowser and the CF together, any ideas? the acdsee asks me first time i do it if i want it to manage external cards as well, but i cannot find that option in Z.B.

Thanks a lot,
Dorin

Dorin,
By download program, do you mean ACDSee is attempting to get the images rather tha ZB?

I don't use ZoomBrowser to get the images, but if you click on "Tools" > "Customize" it'll give you a menu to "Aquire the Images from the CF card" and some other settings. For me this only seems to work if I have ZB up and running first.

Also I just noticed under "Tasks" at the top left there is an "Aquire & Camera Settings" dropdown to get images and it is set by the "Customize" options.

Hi Mark, i'm not talking about aquiring the images, i want to browse the images found in the CF directly, not having to download them first, to browse them straight with ZB without having to download them first.

any ideas?!?! thanks,
Dorin

Do you mean you want the CF folder window to open and the Zoom Browser download window simulteneously?

I'm sure it can be done but I'm also sure it will mean writing a small batch file.

Dorin,
Gotcha... Yeah, I see what you mean, if you click on the cards folder it asks you to download the images. I don't see a way to do otherwise, which you would of thought would have been an option. It does have that viewer for selection in the download window, which is somewhat OK and allows you to see what they are. Funny that it opens a USB memory stick with images just fine.

i know, it's really frustrating, it even opens NAS, external usb hdds but no CF...
i would really like to select the pics from the cf directly, and the ZB has the avantage over ACDsee that you can see exif and focus information directly...
to be honest i think is plain st^#id....

I did try something and it works, but kind of inconvenient. On the CF card change the name of the folder DCIM to something like DCIM-1. The program recognizes DCIM as a folder to download from. If it's anything else it thinks it's a normal folder.

If you're real brave and feel like messing with the Windows Registry, (Red Flag goes up - Caution, Caution this can trash your computer), I'm not sure if the registry entry below is what controls what opens in Zoombrowser download mode. I thought about changing the DCIM parts to something else, but then thought better of it. You're welcome to try and let us know how it works out :D.
