Hey folks, I recently purchased a Pentax K200D and am discovering some vintage lenses that seem to produce impressive images. I was curious if some of the old Pentax M42 screw mounts would fit (adapter needed, I know) and also the old K mount lenses.

I like the vintage look and the price of some of them is very attractive.

Any recommendations, experiences, or suggestions?

I'm pretty sure they'll work. I don't use the older lenses though so I can't give you any details. You should probably be asking this question at the Pentax Forums (http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/). You'll probably get more answers.

Genuine Pentax lens in M42 screw mount, "K" and "Ka" mount SMC lenses are generally sparkling lenses, in particular any genuine Pentax prime lens with their SMC coating.

Multi-coated Takumar (Pentax) are also very good optically, especially their Super Takumar offerings.

One lens you might consider first would be an f/1.4 50mm SMC prime.

The Pentax K200D has pretty good support for old lenses - Pentax are probably the best of all DSLR manufacturers for legacy lens support. However, for older non-auto aperture lenses, you'll have to enable a special option in the settings menu - check your manual for the full details. I think there may be some limitations in metering modes.
