So what does everyone else think? I think it's damn near impossible to say one is "better" then the other.

Very odd thing about those results...

In some shots it looks like the XSi is clipping a little and in other shots it looks like the 40D is clipping a little. If each camera showed the same dynamic range characteristics across the board, that would be one thing...but that apparently isn't the case. Hmmmm....

But, essentially, there is no significant difference between them. I'm not surprised, though. Is anyone really?

do the same comparison with a 30d and xti aswell. the differences will still be minute and suitable for pixel peepers only.

Canon has been very consistent as far as not letting IQ be the differentiator within generations...
